COTTON

This cotton program is intended for informational use only. For the best possible results tailored to meet your needs and soil type, check with your DGC representative for specific recommendations.
Ground Application/Pre-Plant
(30 days before planting)
Normal Soil 32 oz. AIM per acre
(2.5 L/Ha)
*Alkali/Sodium Soil
32 oz. RECLAIM per acre
(2.5 L/Ha)
Apply with pre-plant (yellow) herbicide
GOAL:
Soil stimulation, air & water management, disease prevention.
REASON:
AIM and RECLAIM open the soil for proper air and water management. This softening allows the product’s enzyme mix to thoroughly stimulate the biological elements breaking down unavailable nutrients to their available form. RECLAIM on the alkali (sodium) soil adds the benefit of preventing damage. Sodium is reduced, making potash conversion easy and available. Products unlock the phosphates in spring and potash (potassium) in the fall through microbial stimulation. Critical to cotton survival is sufficient potassium. Cotton loves potassium, but ingests sodium instead. Sodium erupts the cell wall inviting insect and disease. NOTE: Both products activate and extend the life of herbicides improving their efficiency. Soil test may indicate a higher rate of RECLAIM is necessary in very alkali soil.
*For pH higher than 6.8 and/or high sodium content. Also good for chemically damaged fields.
At Planting
16 - 32 oz. per acre (1.25 - 2.5 L/Ha) SEED TREATMENT immediately after planting or 5 oz. per 100 lbs. (150 mL / 45 kg) if applying directly to seed
GOAL:
Stimulate germination of seed and protection.
REASON:
Stimulates the beneficial bacteria and fungi that protects the seedling from soil related diseases thus increasing germination.
Post-Emergence
GOAL:
Stimulate microorganisms and spur root growth.
REASON:
This application will stimulate organisms creating an environment promoting a bigger root system and faster growth in the plant.
Early Bloom
16 - 32 oz MICROPLUS per acre (1.25 - 2.5 L/Ha) foliar applied.
GOAL:
To stimulate reproduction by increasing reproductive nutrient uptake.
REASON:
Poor nutrient balance at this time causes yield loss. This application is for retaining the bloom set. (In high sodium soil, at this stage the cotton plant will pull up large doses of sodium instead of potassium which is why RECLAIM is recommended in these areas.)
Peak Bloom
16 - 32 oz MICROPLUS per acre (1.25 - 2.5 L/Ha) foliar applied.
GOAL:
Direct cotton stimulation to load up bolls, flush plant and increase nutrient uptake.
REASON:
A fully loaded plant will still shed blooms if enough reproductive elements are not available to make all bolls mature. This application is an additional stress reducer to help retain both early and late blooms. At this time there is still a heavy draw on potassium. If potassium is low it is easily replaced by sodium that can lead to death in cotton in the form of root rot.
Herbicide Spray Program
Apply 16 fl. oz. phLAME per 100 gallon tank mix with contact herbicides (0.5 L per 375 L).

Fungicide Spray Program
Apply 16 to 32 fl. oz. SS 9 per 100 gallon tank mix with fungicides (0.5 - 1 L per 375 L).

Insecticide Spray Program
Apply 5 to 10 oz SPREADER STICKER per 100 gallon tank mix with insecticides (150 - 300 mL per 375 L).

NOTE ABOUT SPRAYING
We strongly recommend using an adjuvant with your spray program. Specialty surfactants (SS 9, SPREADER STICKER, phLAME) have proven cost effective with spray applications of chemicals (fungicides, herbicides, pesticides) to allow lowest label rates with better results. The synergy can add potency and extend the chemical life and have allowed some growers to experiment and get exceptional results with well under label rates.
Please ask your DGC representative for the appropriate product for your needs and grower’s experiences in your area.
